* Story: The kindness of the poor girl  (Diakhanke story, Senegal, read by members of AFRICAT)

 

* Debate: “Dialogue, living in harmony and peaceful conflict resolution in Catalunya: how can the new Catalans contribute?”

As Edith says:

“Esta exposición de máscaras principalmente zoomorfas, nos llevan a una África de tradición animista donde el respeto a la naturaleza era fundamental y la cohabitación entre los seres vivos, indispensable. A fin de lograr un equilibrio, la relación entre el ser humano y el animal estaban estrechamente ligadas.

Desde tiempos ancestrales el hombre africano busca intermediarios entre ellos y su entorno para la realización de sus ritos. Estos mediadores eran o bien sus ancestros o los propios animales a los que consideraba como parte indivisible de esa naturaleza tan respetada. Debido al hecho de la unión entre el hombre y el animal, se ha propiciado una gran proliferación de la representación de este género dentro de lo que hoy llamamos arte africano. Representación que puede ser fidedigna a la imagen del animal, híbrida por la mezcla entre ellos o con el ser humano. Existe también una representación del animal inventada o imaginada propia de la mitologia.

Dentro del vasto campo del animalario africano proponemos una muestra de 36 máscaras en el que recorremos diferentes etnias, animales, etc. Formas de representaciones que hacen entender lo imprescindible del mundo animal dentro de la cultura africana.”
